Interested in purchasing a home with a large lot? Washington boasts a wide variety of landscapes from mountains to forest to farmland and this variety offers buyers an array of choices.
Across Washington, the prices of homes with large lots can vary widely based on location, terrain, zoning and intended use. Prices tend to be highest around urban areas like Seattle and Bellevue, while recreational and agricultural land in rural areas often sells for far less per acre.
NWMLS brokers have access to a huge database of available properties and can quickly and easily find properties based on their clients’ desired lot size. We’ve taken a look in the NWMLS database (which contains hundreds of thousands of listings, dating back to the 1990s) to see where to find homes with lots of 10 or more acres.
In 2023, there were 640 residential properties with 10+ acre lots sold by NWMLS brokers. Most properties were found in more rural areas.
The best place to find a home with a large lot was Okanogan County, which not only had the most properties sold in 2023, but also had one of the lowest median sale prices in the state at $404,500. This is also where the least expensive property sold, coming in at the bargain price of $92,000 for a cute cabin on 10.13 acres.
The county with the most expensive 10+ acre properties was San Juan with a median price of $1,515,000 followed closely by King County at $1,200,000.
Not surprisingly, the most expensive property sold in 2023 was also the largest. Located in Kittitas County, this 3,617-acre property sold for a whopping $21,600,000!
