Join the green movement! This year’s Northwest Green Home Tour, a free-to-the-public showcase, is scheduled for April 29 from 11 AM to 5 PM.
Produced by the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild, the event features “projects in all shades of green” around the Puget Sound area. It includes backyard cottages, remodels, energy retrofits and new homes.
The purpose of the Green Home Tour, according to the presenters, is to provide an opportunity for members of the community to learn about sustainable building practices from industry contractors, builders, suppliers, and even green homeowners. It’s also a way for building professionals and the general public to interact.
Registration is required to get the addresses and locator map of the showcase sites.
The Northwest EcoBuilding Guild is a nonprofit community of builders, designers, suppliers, homeowners, and partners concerned with ecological building in the Pacific Northwest. It was founded by a small group of professionals who shared a desire to network, learn and exchange ideas related to their areas of expertise.
Since its formation in 1993, it has grown to seven chapters in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia. The organization provides open-source educational materials to the construction industry and the general public “to encourage building practices that dramatically reduce carbon emissions, are self-sustaining, contribute to local economies, and create optimal conditions for human health and community.”
