Individuals or organizations who are helping make affordable housing in Washington state more attainable may deserve recognition with a “Friend of Housing” award.
Nominations for awards in nine categories are due by August 1 and may be submitted online.
The Washington State Housing Finance Commission will celebrate the honorees in October as part of this year’s observance of Housing Washington.
The Margret Sevy Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes “remarkable and sustained leadership” by individuals who have made an impactful contribution to our state’s affordable housing.
Eight recipients will be saluted with Friend of Housing Awards. The categories include Emerging Leader, Racial Equity Initiative, Empowering Housing Residents, Community Crisis Response, Housing Intersection, Unsung Hero, Housing Inclusion, and Sustainable Housing.
The awards recognize commitments during the previous 12 months. The selection committee will consider innovation, leadership, creativity, and/or partnership that goes above and beyond the nominee’s job duties.

Housing Washington is an annual conference led by the Washington State Housing Finance Commission in partnership with the Department of Commerce and Washington Low Income Housing Alliance. The event’s educational program, exhibits and networking opportunities are designed to advance an affordable housing agenda and break down barriers for people of color and others who have been systemically excluded.
